Swift / Flood Water Rescue

  • Awareness Level - 4 Hours
  • Operations Level - 20 Hours
  • Technician Level - 40 Hours
Does your staff know what hazards to look for in a water environment?  Can they size up a scene to determine what resources will be needed to safely conduct a search and rescue?

TRS offers Swiftwater/Flood Rescue training that:
  • Is customized to meet your District's needs
  • Is taught by experienced and certified Instructors
  • Meets NFPA 1670 and 1006 Standards
Operations and Technician Level Courses are physically demanding.  Students should be in good physical condition and be comfortable working in the water.

Awareness Level - 4 Hours (Lecture Only)

This course teaches the basics of personal safety and size-up in a water environment.  It can be easily completed in a single night during your regularly scheduled in-service training.  This is a must have for all first responders.

Operations Level - 20 Hours (Awareness + 16 Hours)

This course builds on the Awareness Level training to provide the First Responder with more advanced Personal Safety Skills including self-rescue, learned in the water by doing.  It also provides the skills to conduct shore based rescues.

Technician Level - 40 Hours (Operations + 20 Hours)

At this level students will learn to make contact with victims in the water, manage a search for missing persons in a water enviroment, and use rope systems to access and remove victims from danger.
